Directorate Mandate

To promote environmental conservation, strengthen climate resilience, coordinate disaster preparedness and response, and enhance public safety through effective environmental management and emergency response systems.

Directorate Structure

The Directorate Leadership and Coordination Unit comprises officers responsible for strategic planning, programme coordination, monitoring, policy implementation, and administrative oversight across the Directorate.

The Directorate comprises three technical sections that support environmental sustainability, resilience, and emergency management.

Environment and Natural Resources Management Section

The Environment and Natural Resources Management Section is responsible for environmental conservation, natural resource management, waste management, environmental compliance, social safeguards, and maintenance of public spaces.

Staffing Establishment

The Environment and Natural Resources Management Section has an approved staffing establishment of 120 officers and support personnel comprising environmental officers, water engineers, social safeguards officers, waste management officers, and cleaning and park attendants. The workforce provides technical expertise in environmental conservation, natural resource management, waste management, social safeguards, public space maintenance, and environmental compliance, supporting the city’s commitment to a clean, healthy, and sustainable urban environment.
