Kenya Urban Support Programme – KUSP I

The Kenya Urban Support Programme (KUSP I) supported the development of urban infrastructure and institutional capacity to improve service delivery and the quality of life in participating urban areas. In Nakuru, the programme supported strategic investments in roads, drainage, pedestrian infrastructure, public facilities, safety and urban mobility.
Through these investments, Nakuru City has improved connectivity, accessibility, pedestrian safety, emergency response capacity and the functionality of key urban spaces.

Impact of KUSP I

  • Better roads and pedestrian infrastructure have improved movement between key areas of the city.
  • NMT infrastructure, raised crossings, street lighting and CCTV support safer movement for pedestrians and other road users.
  • The modern disaster and rescue centre has strengthened the City's emergency preparedness and response capacity.
  • Investments such as the Afraha Stadium have expanded the City's capacity to host sporting, recreational and public events.

KUSP I investments have contributed to the ongoing transformation of Nakuru City by improving urban infrastructure, mobility, safety and public facilities.
