Project Detail
VEI, in partnership with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and UN-Habitat, is implementing the Water as Leverage project in Nakuru, known as Nakuru’s Sponge City. The initiative supports the development and implementation of nature-based solutions to strengthen the City’s resilience to flooding and other climate-related challenges.
The project includes interventions such as green roofs, permeable pavements and urban wetlands. These solutions are being advanced through capacity-building workshops, pilot projects and co-design sessions focused on flood-prone areas across the city. The project is currently at the design stage while resources are being mobilized for implementation of the pilot project.
