The Creative Artisans Market, an initiative of the Nakuru City Board, provides a platform for local artisans, artists, designers and entrepreneurs to showcase, market and sell their products. Held every Friday along designated streets in the Central Business District, the market connects creatives with customers, promotes locally made products and supports enterprise growth. The initiative reflects H.E. Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to creativity, innovation, employment and local enterprise development, while City Manager Gitau Thabanja reaffirmed the County Government’s support for artists and small businesses and encouraged residents to buy locally made products.
Beyond providing a marketplace, the initiative promotes culture, tourism, entrepreneurship and networking, strengthening Nakuru’s position as a UNESCO Creative City for Crafts and Folk Art. It brings together artisans, fashion designers, jewellery makers, visual artists, entrepreneurs, students, County stakeholders and the public, with support from Woolmart, Kenya Red Cross, Hela Sabili, Nairobi Women’s Hospital and Nakuru College. The City Board aims to develop the market into a sustainable hub for local talent and expand opportunities for creatives, contributing to an inclusive, prosperous and creative Nakuru City.
