Nakuru City came alive with colour, creativity and cultural expression during the Nakuru City Festival 2025, held from 26 November to 1 December 2025 at Nyayo Gardens. The six-day celebration brought together residents, artists, cultural practitioners, entrepreneurs, businesses and visitors to showcase Nakuru’s rich heritage and diversity, with cultural expressions from more than 40 ethnic communities. Themed “Celebrating Culture, Empowering Communities and Nurturing Talents,” the festival featured cultural performances, crafts and business exhibitions, food, fashion, poetry, modern dance, talent shows, technology and creativity showcases, live art, murals and interactive activities.
The festival also featured boxing, rugby, music, rap and dance competitions, pageantry and entertainment, providing opportunities for local talent, artisans and businesses to connect, market their work and engage with the community. The celebrations culminated in Nakuru City’s 4th Anniversary on 1 December, with a closing ceremony showcasing African cultural performances. As a UNESCO Creative City for Crafts and Folk Art, Nakuru continues to use culture and creativity to strengthen identity and social cohesion, nurture talent, create economic opportunities and position the City as a vibrant cultural and creative destination.
